The problem was that one turn of the pedals on a boneshaker didn't take you very far down the road. Making the front wheel bigger did the trick.
They rode this one hundred miles? Seriously? On that seat? They don't make people like they used to...although come to think of it I'll bet I do know someone who would do it.
Notice that the spokes are soldered together for strength. What a cool light swinging on the axle between the spokes.
I've never ridden one but it just looks like you'd eventually go over the bars. And that would be a long way down!
